Kamadhatu

The first zone is called the Kamadhatu. Its philosophy is the reflection of the world that is faced by human nowadays. There are 160 reliefs that explain cause and effect law. It is called Karmawibhangga Sutra.

Those reliefs show human’s bad characteristic and desire such as killing, robbing, raping and torturing. The relief’s cover is opened so that the tourists can see how beautiful those carving are.

Rupadhatu

The second zone in Borobudur Temple is Rupadhatu. Rupadhatu means the transitional world. It means that human is free from world business.

There are 328 Buddhist statues. The reliefs are so beautiful. There are many beautiful carving which decorates them.

It contains 1,300 reliefs based on Sansekerta manuscript research. They are Gandhawyuha, Awadana, Lalitawistara and Jataka. They spread out as far as 2,5 km. The total panel is 1212 panels.

Arupadhatu

Arupadhatu is the third zone. The zone is the most sacred zone. It means the highest realm or God’s house.

The zone has three platforms. Their shape is a circle which face cupola. It shows the world’s resurrection.

You cannot find any reliefs, ornaments and decorations in this zone. The platforms contain stupa with a circular shape, upside down bells and Buddha sculpture which face out of the temple. You can find 72 stupas in the Arupadhatu zone.

Borobudur temple locates on Badrawati Street, Borobudur, Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. The location is not far from Magelang. Its distance is 17 km.

While the distance from Yogyakarta to Borobudur is only 40 km apart. If you come from Semarang you need to travel as far as 90 km.

Borobudur Temple Entrance Fee

There are any differences in the entrance fee. Student or kids have to pay Rp 12.000,00 for an entrance fee. Also, adult need to pay Rp 30.000,00 for the entrance fee.

While the entrance fee for foreign students or kids is USD $10. Somehow, an adult foreigner needs to pay USD $20.
